Engel Private Academy is located deep in a forest. It doesn't look like it at first glance, but there is a clearing around the school, where large walls guard the school. The only ways out are through the North and East gates. The West and South gates have only been used by staff members, and students can only use them when given special permission.
That has been going on for the past three years, when those two gates first closed. Students, for seven years, use to be allowed to freely go through those two gates as much as anyone else. However, who talks about what lies beyond those two gates now suddenly disappear, along with the person or people they told. No one questions it, or fear being taken as well.
Other students who are seniors or have done well enough in class, are sent to a smaller private school beyond the East gate. No one ever hears from them, so what happens there and where exactly it is located is unknown.
Other than those two mysteries, the school is said to be perfect for those majoring in magic, or majoring in three other fields: art, theater, and/or music. The principal and vice principal Hänsel and Gretel, have been ruling over the school for the past ten years, since the school was built in their name. They have not said anything about the mysteries and why they closed those gates for anyone but certain people three years ago. In fact, for those past years, rarely are those two siblings seen together; or just for anything but business anymore.
The students who have been going to the school longer than three years had certainly taken notice. Most don't speak of it to the younger students, but even so, there hasn't been anything anyone can do. Some choose to ignore it unless asked, others play ignorant, more are afraid, the few who vocally stand up to try seeing what has been going on usually disappear or are like mindless robots the next day with no clue on their previous rebellion.
There are no strict limits to how long a student can stay. However, the longest some students, rarely though, have stayed has been eight years. Usually they are at the smaller private school, or anywhere else graduated in general, after at least four years. One does not need perfect grades to get in, but if the student can afford to get in, they usually can as long as they at least don't have any 5's or 6's. The age however, is for anyone who can either afford it or has had excellent grades. The youngest ages--which is rare--have been fourteen years, but the biggest group of students are usually eighteen and nineteen.
The setting is in the Harz areas of Germany, near the Brocken mountain. Therefore respectively: the school name, principal, vice principal, and grading system are all German. There can be students from other places of the world, but most should be from Germany itself or at least Europe in general. Therefore more than less will have German names and a German background. It makes sense because of the setting for this story.
