"It was, Farrell, certainly was..." Once more, a proud look appeared on her face. Selfish too, am I? It's true, those words he said, but who's more selfish, I wonder... She shook her head, telling herself it didn't matter who right at that moment. It mattered the fact Rubia and Farrell were there together in general. And Rubia had purposely chosen something expensive.
Was this kind of revenge right though? She didn't particularly care..she told herself not to care. Not for him. Not her actions against him. After all, while it truly may not be right, it felt good to her. A feeling she needed as of late.
But I'm not fully satisfied. Not yet.... Heheheh...
It still annoyed her that he indicated she was being selfish too. Even though, she did believe it was the truth, she felt irritated anyway. Rubia didn't show it though, and went back to eating. She finished not three minutes later. There hadn't been much left on her plate by the time the bill came, and so she was relieved. Now, if he left, he wouldn't get far from her sight. She didn't think that he may have in fact done that on purpose.

Farrell watchedvher silently, noting her shake her head and resumr eating. He thought to himself quietly, but didnt say anything for awhile. He only waited as she finished her food.
Farrell looked to tge side for but a second. He wondered if he should say this, but he also told himself maybe this mifht also get her to back down, if just a little.
"Dont you feel any regret for this? This can't really be tge direction you want to go, right? You may become a criminal if you keep this up."

There was a pause. She was trying to not let it take control, but once Farrell mentioned it, Rubia felt it take more control of her. She was trying to boost her confidence earlier, and not allow herself to think of regretting or care or question herself. There he was, trying otherwise.
For a moment longer, Rubia was silent and looked down. She really let herself be influenced by what he said. I shouldn't. I know I shouldn't. How dare he... Yes, Rubia found it to be Farrell attacking her mentally. And she of course, didn't like it. He knew her as well as she knew him. For that, Rubia tightened her hands into fists on her lap.
She didn't want to be a criminal. She didn't want to be viewed in the wrong. Yet, she had to in order to accomplish this new goal. It was the direction she wanted to go, because she craved the desired goal she sought so much. And she wasn't sorry, even though she didn't entirely like what she was doing, but it was for the best in her eyes.
"...You"--she paused for a second again--"know my answer to that. Now we will depart, Farrell, just as you want." She stood up and curtsied. "Thank you again for the meal." She glared. "See you around, jerk." And then, she was gone, she had walked out of the restaurant and disappeared into the distance.

Farrell watched her pause, saw everything he expected her to do. Then, she was gone. He hadn't said anything more before her departure. He simply sighed after she left.
And afyet he made sire the bill was paid, Farrell also left the restaurant. In the streets outside, he thought back to earlier. There was a feel of victory over having her react the way she did, but Farrell did not truly fully feel satisfied.
"What a child though." He mumbled to himself. He may feel tge issue between Rubia and him wasn't settled just for what happened earlier, but he did like he got her to leave. Yes, this way he could continue withoyt her possibly tryinf to steal from him. He knew this wasn't the last he's seen of her though. Still, he did keep going down thr sidewalk pf the city, without glancing around suspiciously.

Alone in an alleyway, Rubia dialed a number on a cheap cellphone. It was the only phone her family could afford, and Rubia knew she wouldn't be able to use it for long. The bill was past due, and soon she wouldn't be capable of calling anyone. So she wanted to check on them while she could.
"Hello? Mother, it's me... How...how are you feeling?" Rubia's face fell when she heard what her now only parent had to say to the question. "....No..uh.. You'll get better! I know you will. I promise I'll return soon. Hang in there." She gave a determined look towards no one in particular. Rubia fell silent again though, listening to her mother.
"...Yes, yes, I am fine... How's my uncle?" Rubia frowned at the received answer on the other line. She bit down on her bottom lip restlessly. "....O-okay. Don't worry, I'll get what is needed to help everyone. I'll come home as soon as possible when I have it." She paused again as her mother spoke. Then Rubia continued voicing what she wanted to say in return, "I miss you all too. Please stay strong. I love you. ......Yeah, talk to you later..."
She hung up and put the phone in her pocket. After wiping away a few stray tears, Rubia looked around for Farrell. She saw him on the other side of the street, noticing how far away he was. "I could have easily lost track of you." She mumbled while glaring in his direction. Now that he was in her sight again, Rubia left the alleyway and casually crossed the street. As sneakily as possible for her to manage, she followed him to wherever his next destination would be.

Farrell had not taken a notice to being followed at all. He only had one task in mind. For that, he was going to leave the city. He was far enough already, he thouggt he could maybe make it to the next town by dusk.
He took a deep breath. "Sure is nice out....and quiet." He watched the people passing him by. Typically they were going about everday lives. He wondered just how they could stand it. Farrell personally thouggt it refreshing to br out like this.
"What a change." He sighed, albeit from relief. He continued walking until he reached the edge of the city.

"Talking to yourself now are we, Farrell?" She had to ask, purposely coming straight up behind him. She let herself be known, to not only see his--rather predictable--reaction, but also that she didn't feel like sneaking around.
She continued, "I understand it's what some people do. In fact, I do talk out loud to no one sometimes myself. But-" Rubia pointed to herself truthfully, before walking right infront of him. Doing so, she hoped to try stopping him from walking. When Rubia was in front, she held her index finger to her lips. "be careful, my naughty fiend...don't know who could be listening." She spread both arms out just a bit, trying to make a point. She whispered the next bits. "Just think if you told a little secret, meaning for only yourself to hear. Instead, someone just so happens to hear~, only because you said it out loud. Not realizing until it was al~l too late."
She suddenly clapped, before dropping her hands to her sides and smiled up at him.

Farrell sighed again, this time because he suddenly felt tired. "Yes, and i am caredul. Especially around you. At the same time, I'm grateful for the reminder. Though I'm sure you had a successful goal just now fot my reaction to that."
He did stop walikng when she got infront of him. "Is there some other reason you've come to me?"

"That's nice then, and yes, I suppose you can count this as a well earned goal." She shrugged. "Not that it was a big thing for me anyway. Though to what you said earlier, I agree"--she smiled in envy--"the weather is nice."
There was a pause, and Rubia's smile went back to a relaxed from. She stared up at him as he stared down at her. "You know the answer to that. And you should be glad I decided not to follow you unseen nor heard." She crossed her arms then, looking nothing more than a kid pouting, even though she wasn't actually pouting.

"Uh huh..." he responded. For a second, Farrell scratched his chin. "Yoy lookef at me quite jealously just now..." he shrugged.
Next thing Farrell did was nod to Rubia's statement that he knew her answer. He joked at the end though, "I'd rather you had stayed hidden."
He chuckled, then held out his hand for her to take. "Come on. I'll take you home. Its not that far from here, just about fifty miles from here. I'll get you back safely though."

There wasn't an answer to his response on her looking envious, but Rubia agreed. She simply stared at him to acknowledge it that way. She blinked a couple times to his joke, raising an eyebrow. She knew it was a joke, but didn't know how to respond.
Then, Farrell said something Rubia hadn't expected him to... He even held his hand out to her, a warm welcoming that she could accompany him. However, it wouldn't be to where she wanted. Yet, she did giggle in amusement to the distance he mentioned. "Fifty miles is pretty far. Either way though, I decline your offer. We talked about this earlier. You can't really belief I'd change my mind in such a brief time."
Her words were true and serious. He eyes held a plea for him to just understand, as it was all she asked for. "I'm traveling for a reason. I wont stop, I can't, and I don't want to. I can take care of myself though, trust me, I'm not that weak. Not saying you think I am, but I'm just pointing it out."
Rubia placed her hands on her hips. "If you want to truly help me though, then I do have a favor to ask. Before that though, I'm sorry for the argument we had earlier." She was again still being truthful, letting her pride go just for this. And to his held out hand, she took hold of it, with both her hands. "I just- it's all really important to me. ....Please."

"Hey now, some people do change their minds quickly." Farrell stated as he scratched his stomach. He saw her then, the look she was giving him. It made him wonder what was going on in her head. It didn't look like she was acting.
He raised an eyebrow to her apology, but nodded. With the resy that she said, he looked down at the small hands that were holding onto his one hand.
He used his free hand to be on top of one of hers. This was as though to comfort her. "I can accept almost any favor, but if it involves the item, that can't work. I told you earlier already, i only use it for my family."
Hw gave her a sincere smile. "I'm sorry for whatever you are going through. But i cant help if the item is all you want"
Farrell hoped if it was true, that she'd simply go home. But with Rubia, he kind of doubted it. She was being courageous for all tbis though. He admired that.

With whatever he said about people's minds changing faster than others, Rubia paid no heed to it. She continued to hold onto Farrel's hand instead. There was no movement from her as he lay his free hand on one of her hands. Listening to him made her feel all the more desperate.
Tears sparkled in her eyes as Rubia replied, "I need it...my family is dying... Please, please make an exception." Even while trying to hold them back, tears started running down her cheeks. "I beg you... Whatever your device leads to will save their lives. ....And I don't want to lose more of my family, it has already become a wreck.. So, please help me Farrell; please help them."

Farrell stared silently at Rubia for a moment. He could tell she was telling the truth. It musy hace been hard fkr her to let go of her pride over this, or maybe it had actually been easy considering the circumstances. Either way, he felt bad foe her.
"Rubia..." He began. Thoughts played in his mind and Farrell was careful on organizing such thoughts. "I....I..." Farrell was hesitating, noy wanting to hurt her, but knew the option he was choosing was for the best. "I...can't help you. I'm sorry, bit I have to help my family, and I only use this item for them. The item my tracker will find can't be used just to grant everyone's wishes, it can't just be used carelessly. It was made foe my family and only them. I can't just break that..."

Tears continued down Rubia's cheeks, in which she had to hold back the urge to cry out. "This wouldn't be carelessly! And I promise you I'm telling the truth! I talked to my mother today... she's not doing well at all, in fact I think she's getting worse.. Remember seeing me with them? How happy we all were. It was thanks to the Gryphons..thanks to you. I just want that back, I just want us to be happy again."
She tightened her grip on Farrell's hand. It was an effort of desperation and begging. Something she did not often do, but at that point...she didn't know what else to do. "Relatives have already died or left without a word. ....You've helped us before..why not now? You say it is only used for your family, but...I don't understand... W-we all can be helped, can't we? The Gryphons and the Winters, yes? Please, Farrell?"
